Goyder as Geographer
Goyder's best known accomplishment was achieved as a practical geographer. In 1865 he set off again with a rather extraordinary mission. It would require his unique knowledge of every aspect of South Australian environment from its climate and topography to its soil, vegetation and water sources. He was to determine 'the line of demarcation between the portion of the country where the rainfall has extended and that where the drought prevails'.
