Description GRG 56/79

George H. Pitt, the first archivist of the former South Australian Archives (SAA), began the compilation of Research Notes in 1929. The notes usually provide archival references compiled in the course of research on a particular topic, or copies of articles that relate to the collection.

They cover a diverse range of subjects relating to South Australian history. Subjects include:

  • architecture
  • people
  • modes of transport [see Example 1]
  • places [see Example 2]
  • occupations
  • societies and organisations
  • events.
